Files don’t appear (only folders), app freezes and becomes unresponsive after disk scans —

System: macOS 15.7.1 (MacBook Pro 2019, Intel i5)
Drive: Seagate Expansion Drive 4TB HDD, NTFS format (using NTFS for Mac 17.0), 2.7TB used (~296,000 files)
Description
After performing two full scans of my hard drive, the app successfully completed both the scan and the preview generation. However, in both cases, I could only see folders in the UI — no individual files were displayed.
Replication
The issue happened twice under the same conditions.
Steps to Reproduce
- Launch the app.
- Connect an external HDD (NTFS, large number of files).
- Perform a full disk scan.
- Wait until the scan and preview generation are completed.
- Observe that only folders are visible, no files.
- The gear icon (“Assigning metadata”) stays stuck for about an hour, and eventually the app stops responding.
Additional Observations
- The app takes a long time to start, more than 30sec (even with no drive connected).
- When launched with a drive already connected, the app freezes and becomes unresponsive.
- When I start the app first and then connect the drive, it correctly detects it and prompts an action (“Scan for changes” or “Skip”).
- After choosing either option, the same drive appears twice in my drive list.
- Overall, the app feels very slow and frequently shows the macOS spinning wheel, even with an offline drive.

Somehow, I now have access to files but
- On folders with lots of videos, the preview don't match with the files
- App is still very slow (I have about 2,7GB of file previews)
- I still have my drive showing twice in the menu (one with incomplete file structure, but if I click the info icon, it has the same file count)
- Tried to rename one: if I hit enter after renaming it, it doesn't work. If I hit save, the name changes for the one selected. If I restart the app, the name is not saved.
- I would appreciate to browse the column view with arrow keys

Henry we've also addressed the mismatched preview issue. In terms of your drive showing twice, please use the new "Reset Library" function inside "Manage Library" - this will give you a fresh app to work with and make sure that the new scan logic can work as planned rather than get complicated by corrupted files. For arrow key navigation, we did have this implemented in an earlier build but it was buggy and quite low down our importance list, so we will get the app feeling powerful and stable and then hopefully integrate arrow key nav into a future update :)
