Very Slow Scan!
darryl tooth (Skyline65)
When I try to scan my TrueNAS smb share it takes a few hours. The reason is that I have normal files (jpeg, pdf etc) but also many archive/library files. These are:
Qrecall .archive
Eagle .library
MailSteward database
Luminar Neo Catalog .luminarbackup
Im pretty sure DriveVault rather than recognising them as a single file is actively drilled down into every single layer/folder which is causing the slow scan. Maybe have the option not to scan down through certain types of archive/library/database?

Hey - believe we chatted on Reddit about this, but just to address this here too. NAS drives are a known improvement point for us, they present a real problem in scanning because every user has theirs set up differently, MacOS mounts each of these configurations in different ways, and also even things like your wifi speed can affect how "connected" or "live" your drive appears, which can in turn make life difficult for DriveVault and cause it to behave not exactly as expected. That being said, it sounds like actually DriveVault worked great in this case and scanned your NAS drive on this successfully - BUT it read too deeply into some archive packages that you didn't want it to and included all of the system files inside those archives. We already have a pretty robust archive detection system that detects over 80 different types of archive file type, lists the root file in the scan but skips the actual contents of the archive for the scan (adding this feature improved our scan times by up to 80% in our tests), that said, we've made this feature even more robust based on your feedback and increased the number of recognised archives to 120+ (including the file types you've shared here) and also implemented a powerful new window where you can click the "Gear" icon on the "Scan Drive" window, this will open up all of the archive file types that DriveVault currently skips by default. You can now choose to include them in the scan if you wanted to (not that we recommend it). Worth noting that this will likely significantly increase the number of files that DriveVault has to scan though - so use cautiously!

When will it be updated on App Store?
Also I have managed to scan my music library however as soon as I press the library stats the whole app freezes. It took about 5 mins on a MacStudio to eventually appear

darryl tooth (Skyline65): Hey, we submitted V1.1 to the Apple app store review team this morning - they say they aim for 48hr review turnaround, so hopefully with you by this Thursday if not before - sometimes they are faster with apps that have already been approved.
RE library stats, definitely hear you that they need to compile faster, I imagine the fact that DriveVault had scanned through your archives and catalogued every file within them will mean that your library is FAR larger than it needs to be, which will be causing the bottleneck with library stats as it sifts through every single file to compile your stats. We'll take a look at this though and see if we can get the load time smoother on library stats
